MaXimus system

About Maximus in general

The Maximus automated information-analytical system for managing diagnostic and treatment process is one of the key components meant to bring a significant contribution to increasing the productivity and efficacy of health care both in our country and abroad.

The developer of Maximus supporting the system life cycle is Diakea Soft, a company that in partnership with the non-profit medical organization Private Foundation for the Promotion of Medical Technologies Nephrology Expert Council (NEC), Laboratory of System Projects Creative INFO and leading scientists and medical practitioners from the E.M. Tareev Clinic of Nephrology, Internal and Professional Diseases, S.P. Botkin State Clinical Hospital and other educational and medical and preventive treatment institutions of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, create an original, unified, intelligent diagnostic and treatment process control system (CS) in the field of nephrology and dialysis potentially scalable to other branches of medicine.

The basis of Maximus is PLM-systems methodology (Product Life Management).

Products in MAXIMUS are patient (his condition), a diagnostic and treatment process (the action), the staff (his actions, skills), the state of the equipment and other objects of lifecycle.

Main functions and components of Maximus (M)

Functions of M as CS are: data collection, registration, control, planning, analysis, target management by criteria, organization (regulation - BP, unified forms album).

Subsections show main functional components of M:

1. Regulation of DTP.

Regulations in Maximus is based on: building strategic maps for all levels of the NEC, unifying and describing BP and quality evaluation criteria for treatment of the patient, work of the staff, the center and the NEC in general.

Unification and description of DTP BP includes their standard graphical representation by roles, conditions, activities, sources of information, with the reflection in the bar-coding system, output forms, organizational structure and job descriptions.


2. Medical structured knowledge base describes the relationship between the feature space, nosological forms and clinical protocols. 

Information sources for knowledge base are leading experts and scientists from Russia, the international open internet resources, results of processing the statistical data in Maximus.

3. Diagnostic machine helps to make a prompt diagnosis with the highlight of the main disease, accompanying diseases and complications, evaluate the accuracy of diagnosis, the severity of the patient, as well as make recommendations for additional studies that are needed.

4. Cause and effect disease analysis service – the instrument intended for initial diagnosis and forecasting of potential disease development and for reference, study and other purposes. It is implemented in graphical interpretation. It operates with an indicators of the probability, the pace of development, the danger of disease.

5. Patient treatment program (research and action). On the basis of diagnosis made, the search of formal description of treatment protocols by "decision tree" method and OLAP-technology with a dynamic multi-dimensional matrix of purposes is applied. The precedent KB is also used.

6. Electronic medical history – is the informational base of DTP that collects and records all the information about the patient dynamically in the ON-Line mode both from the connected measuring equipment, and from the doctor from any fixed or mobile access points.


7. Maximus-Driver - software component of the system that reads the patient information from various measuring equipment made by different companies connected to the Maximus automatically in "real time" mode.

8. Analytical information representation Maximus Graphic Analizer – MGA represents data about patient’s conditions parameters and DTP in multiple dimensions, cross-sections, at different levels of detail.

MGA also allows to see the general picture of patient condition in dynamics, with respect to group of parameters during the certain period of time in 3D representation.
