Bioimpedance analysis

«AVS-01 MEDASS» is a portable complex device for Bioimpedance Analyses that allows to select correctly «the dry weight» of dialyses patients. It is used in all Departments of Nephrology and Hemodialysis of Medical organization «Nephrology Expert Сouncil».

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis or Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA) is a relatively new method for estimating body composition, hydration level and fluid distribution in the body between extra and intracellular sectors as well as between different body segments.

The value of impedance is defined according to the Ohm’s law for electric chains of alternating current. Active resistance of body tissues which module is close to the module value of impedance is in inverse proportion to body fluid content. The impedances ratio at a low and high frequency characterizes volumes’ ratio of extracellular and total fluid of analyzed tissues.

The opportunity to use Bioimpedance Analysis for dialysis patients has been proved by numerous researches. This method is used for noninvasive diagnostics of changes of water sectors and body composition.

Total hematocrit monitoring during dialysis and auto profiling of the procedure itself makes it possible to determine with maximum accuracy “the dry weight” for each dialysis patient.

The correctly determined «dry weight» makes it possible to develop effective disease treatment tactics for dialysis patients as well as to improve clinical criteria for accompanying disease regarding the necessary treatment.
